NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING NO. 2
The City of Cambridge intends to apply to the Ohio Development of Development for funding through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) – Flex Grant a federally funded program administered by the State. On January 13, 2025, the City of Cambridge conducted the first public hearing to inform citizens about the CDBG programs, how funds may be used, what activities are eligible, and other important program requirements.
The City of Cambridge will conduct a second public hearing at 5:45 p.m. on Monday, January 27, 2025, at City Hall located on 814 Wheeling Avenue, Cambridge, Ohio 43725. This public hearing will give citizens an opportunity to review and comment on proposed improvements to the water distribution system. The city intends to apply for a CDBG – Flexible Grant for two projects through the Ohio Development of Development for project costs. This first proposed project is The Hopalong Cassidy Sidewalk is part of the Hopalong Cassidy Trail which is a series of exhibits throughout Cambridge celebrating William Boyd’s iconic character and the impact he had on his hometown. The sidewalk is a 200′ length of decorative brick at the Cambridge Municipal Court building along US Route 40 – the Historic National Road. The bricks need repaired and cleaning to preserve this part of the trail and upgrades to meet ADA compliance. The estimated project cost is $150,000. The estimated sources and amounts of funding are as follows: CDBG -Flexible Grant – $150,000. The second proposed project is improvements to the downtown area and significantly increases the capacity of the City of Cambridge to serve tourists and provide a pleasing and functional streetscape by transforming existing assets into a destination for both residents and tourists, with a tremendously increased economic impact. The gazebo is part of the ACG project that the City is working on to fund solo. They received money for the Great Guernsey Trail Extension and would like to have the gazebo for the residents and tourists a place to sit and enjoy the downtown. The estimated project cost is $312,500. The estimated sources and amounts of funding are as follows: CDBG -Flexible Grant – $240,000, local share – $82,500.
Citizens are encouraged to attend this important meeting on Monday, January 27, 2025, at 5:45 p.m. to express their views and comments on the city’s proposed improvement to the Hopalong Cassidy Sidewalk and the Floating Gazebo.
