Welcome to the City of Cambridge Auditor’s Office webpage.
The City Auditor is elected to serve a four-year term by the residents of the City of Cambridge. The City Auditor is the Fiscal Officer of the city, responsible for the City’s fund accounting, tracking expenditures & revenues, monthly/yearly reporting to all department heads and City Council, and attending all Finance Committee meetings. The Auditor is on the Board of Control for the City of Cambridge, the Cambridge Municipal Records Commission, and the Investment Board.
The Auditor’s office is also responsible for all personnel records, payroll for over 150 full-time employees as well as over 50 seasonal, maintaining fixed asset reports for all departments, workers compensation claims, pension reports for both Police and Fire in addition to OPERS, processing purchase orders, payment vouchers, and sending checks to vendors.
The current City Auditor is J. Conner Johnson, who took office on January 1st, 2024.
Conner graduated from Cambridge High School in 2014, and then from Muskingum University in December of 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting. He has worked in accounting & finance since graduating in 2017, including employment with the City of Cambridge as Accounting & Finance Manager at the Cambridge Municipal Court. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and son, watching movies, watching the Columbus Blue Jackets, and golfing.
